Elton Lamar Douglas

b. 8/16/1932

Georgia Douglases acknowledges the gracious efforts of Elton Lamar Douglas, son of William Clinton Douglas, in assisting with the development of this project.  In honor of his kind support, Elton is recognized as a Special Contributor to the Georgia Douglases official website.

Elton Lamar was born in Adrian Georgia (Emanuel County) on August 16, 1932 to William Clinton Douglas and Georgia Belle Tapley Douglas. He was the youngest of seven children born to Clint and Belle. Elton married Gail Lowery, and the couple gave birth to two children, Randy and Karen.

Elton distinguished himself in the service of his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He would make a career of the Air Force, during which time he received numerous commendations from superiors for outstanding military service. Elton adapted well to military life, and worked diligently to advance in rank.

In May of 1969, Elton was nominated by Major Richard D. Wenger for the 4252 Strategic Wing Pride Man of the Month Award for going above and beyond the call of duty in the service of his unit.  Due to his exemplary service, Elton received the award, in addition to a formal letter of congratulations from Lieutenant Colonel Edward R. Fields.

After much effort, Elton was promoted to the rank of Technical Sergeant on May 1, 1973. Elton would remain in the Air Force until his retirement, and continues to be an avid supporter of the military. He presently makes his home in the state of Florida.
